Africa-Press – Namibia. JSKA Namibia attended the JSKA World Karate Championships at the Budokan Ehime in Matsuyama, Japan.

The outstanding achievements at the JSKA World Championships filled the Shotokan Karate Academy – JSKA Namibia with pride and gratitude.

With 31 countries and 730 of the best athletes from all the JSKA countries taking part on nine tatamis, the competition was strong, and medals had to be earned on every floor, as the high standard was world-class, with some categories having up to 28 athletes.

Of the 17 JSKA Namibia athletes taking part, 10 athletes managed to bring back 18 medals, of which 5 Gold, 7 Silver and 6 Bronze. All athletes competed in kata and kumite according to age and belt.

The team represented the Namibian Shotokan style of karate with great strength and discipline and carried the Namibian spirit across borders, showing the world the determination, humility and unity of our athletes and officials.

The team was accompanied by 15 family members who made the day-to-day logistics and organisation in Japan easy and positively contributed to the team’s performance through their dedication and loyal support.

The team, which was selected at the Swakop Open in March 2025, spent months preparing and training to make this a success.

The team showed once again that our athletes can actively compete with the rest of the world and placed Namibia on the global map once more, reminding others of our beautiful country, our talent and our growing presence in international sports.

The inspiration we bring home is a cascade effect far beyond the championship. It encourages young athletes to dream big, and it reminds all that teamwork, faith and perseverance truly pay off.
