Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture has launched the nationwide rollout of 1,571 Pre-Primary Kits to classrooms across all regions.
“This N$3 million, investment marks a major step forward in strengthening early learning and promoting inclusive, play-based education for every young child. Procured through UNICEF under an existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS), the kits exemplify a coordinated and transparent effort to ensure that quality early learning materials reach every region efficiently and fairly,” ministry’s Executive Director, Erastus Haitengela, said.
Haitengela revealed that the kits, developed by UNICEF, include puzzles, books, building blocks, art supplies, and caregiver guides designed to help teachers deliver engaging, child-centred lessons. He added that the materials aim to foster creativity, imagination and discovery, while supporting children’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.
He further confirmed that distribution to all regions will begin on 3 November, with each pre-primary school receiving one kit per 40 learners, to ensure fair access and effective use in classrooms nationwide.
“Through these kits, we are investing not only in learning materials but also in the joy, curiosity, and potential of every Namibian child. Early learning must be active, creative, and nurturing, and that is precisely what these kits bring to our classrooms,” the Minister of Education, Sanet Steenkamp, added.
