Africa-Press – Namibia. THE German Armed Forces Technical Advisory Group has officially handed over mobile command post facilities valued at over N$30 million to the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs (MODVA). The handover ceremony was held at the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) Training Establishment.
Receiving the donation, Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs Hon. Frans Kapofi praised the long-standing partnership between Namibia and Germany, noting the German Advisory Group’s continued support in equipping the NDF with modern defence tools and training.
Lieutenant Colonel Lutz Beirich, Commanding Officer of the German Armed Forces Technical Advisory Group in Namibia, said the donation will bolster the operational capabilities of the NDF.
“During the 2021–2024 programme period, we successfully completed three projects: the NDF Vocational Training Centre, the Medical School, and support for the School of Military Science,” he said. He added that the mobile command post project was initiated during the same period but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Minister Kapofi emphasised that the new mobile command post will significantly strengthen the NDF’s operational capacity, particularly in areas such as Operations Other Than War, counterterrorism, and border security.
