Africa-Press – Namibia. Former independent members of parliament (MPs) Paulus Mbangu and Likukela Busihu have retained their positions following Wednesday’s elections.

Mbangu is a Rundu Rural councillor, and Busihu is a councillor for the Kongola constituency.

Former Landless People’s Movement MP Harald Kambrude, who resigned from his party and contested as an independent candidate, retained his position as Rehoboth West Urban constituency councillor.

Elsewhere, former Swapo MP Phillipus Mavara lost his bid to retain the Mashare constituency to independent candidate Petrus Kashumali, while Michael Naiteta, who also stood as an independent candidate, took over the Ncuncuni constituency from former Swapo councillor Leopoldine Nseu.

In the Otjozondjupa region, Petrus Mutji, also an independent candidate, will lead the Tsumkwe constituency.
