Africa-Press – Namibia. The Namibian Ports Authority (Namport) closed its operational year with two events over the weekend that reflected its focus on port operations and community support.

The activities took place in Lüderitz and Henties Bay.

On Friday evening, Namport hosted its annual port users and stakeholders dinner at the port of Lüderitz.

Held under the theme “Collaborate to Elevate”, the event recognised the role of clients and service providers in the port’s performance and growth.

Senior Namport management and officials attended and engaged with members of the port community.

The dinner featured an awards ceremony that recognised clients based on annual performance indicators, including revenue contributions and cargo volumes.

In the Top Revenue-Based Clients category, awards went to Tradeport Namibia Investments (Pty) Ltd, Logistics Support Services (Pty) Ltd, Skeleton Coast Trawling (Pty) Ltd and Lüderitz Bay Shipping & Forwarding.

The Top Volume-Based Clients category recognised Tradeport Namibia Investments (Pty) Ltd, Lüderitz Bay Shipping & Forwarding, and Access World Logistics (Namibia) (Pty) Ltd.

Namport also acknowledged the role of small and medium enterprises within the port.

South Point Ship Agents CC and Namibia Ship Chandlers (Pty) Ltd received awards as Top SME Clients.

On Saturday, Namport carried out a separate community outreach initiative in Henties Bay. The authority donated 111 blankets to the Silver Hairs Association, an organisation that supports elderly residents under the patronage of Dr Zephanias Kameeta.

The donation was made with the support of Reload Logistics, a sponsor partner of Namport. The blankets were handed over during the association’s year-end Christmas event to assist senior citizens during the festive period.

In a statement, Namport thanked the Silver Hairs Association and Dr Kameeta for their work.

“This season reminds us of the beauty of sharing and caring for those who paved the way for us. We are pleased to support this meaningful initiative and extend our warmest season’s greetings to the senior citizens and the wider Henties Bay community,” the statement said.
