Africa-Press – Namibia. Namibia and Malaysia’s bilateral trade stands at approximately N$1.7 billion, the Malaysian High Commission says.

This was revealed by the high commission’s chargé d’affaires, Khornelisman Jasri, at the Experience Malaysia event in Windhoek last Friday.

Jasri said the trade reflects continued growth in economic relations between the two countries.

The Experience Malaysia aimed to showcase Malaysia’s cultural diversity and further strengthen bilateral relations between Malaysia and Namibia.

“We gather here not only to celebrate Malaysia’s rich cultural diversity, but also to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Malaysia and Namibia through tourism, leisure, and meaningful exchange,” Jasri said.

His remarks underscored the role of cultural engagement in deepening diplomatic ties between the two nations.

A key highlight of the event was the announcement that Namibian citizens benefit from visa-free travel to Malaysia, further encouraging tourism and people-to-people exchange.

The event also reflected on the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme, which, from 1980 to 2025, has engaged 144 countries and 88 partners, demonstrating Malaysia’s commitment to sustainable growth and international cooperation.

The acting head of the department of bilateral relations at the Ministry of International Relations and Trade, ambassador Charles Josob, encouraged Namibians to visit Malaysia.

“Namibians are encouraged to experience Malaysia first hand, as such exchanges strengthen our diplomatic relations and deepen mutual understanding, grounded in solidarity and respect,” Josob noted.

Overall, the Experience Malaysia further promoted Malaysia as a premier travel destination while reinforcing the importance of cultural diplomacy in fostering strong bilateral relations.
