Africa-Press – Namibia. Christopher Likuwa, the councillor for Tobias Hainyeko in Windhoek, said that fast-tracking the distribution of serviced erven and improving electricity access are among the main short-term priorities for 2026.
“Our people are crying about serviced land, and on top of my agenda is to get those serviced erven delivered to people so their livelihood improves. We have engaged the City of Windhoek and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that the whole process is fast and done on time,” he said.
Likuwa, who retained his seat in last year’s Regional Council and Local Authority elections, further shared more of his plans for his constituency.
“Toilets and electricity are some of the key issues I would like to look into before the middle of the year. There are certain areas served by the City of Windhoek, and we hope it is delivered. We hope to upgrade the toilets in those areas as well. The conditions in which they are not good, and we are hoping to mobilise people to put money together and upgrade them, as the City of Windhoek doesn’t have a budget for it,” said the councillor. On high youth unemployment, Likuwa said, “It’s one of the most challenging things in our community, and we are working hard to come up with programmes to create jobs amongst the youth”.
The politician thanked the electorate for giving him another term in office.
“We have grown into becoming like a family in our constituency, hence the people decided to let me stay again for another term. I am grateful and honoured that my people chose me, and I don’t take this lightly.
From here, we just work and achieve our 2026 goals,” he said.
