Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Namibia Command and Staff College of the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) on Thursday saw the graduation of 26 officers after having completed their Junior Staff Course (JSC) in 34 weeks.
The Minister of Defence, Frans Kapofi, speaking at the event said that the graduates of this college are a clear testimony of the good repute this institution has set as they are prospering in the ranks and files of the NDF, to which most of them are now being employed in both Command and Staff appointments.
“The Ministry of Defence is committed to enhancing its operational efficiency by developing its human capital. This graduation is a demonstration of the Ministry’s commitment to building a competent and professional Defence Force despite the economic challenges,” Kapofi said.
He added that the graduates have undergone extensive studies pertinent to their duties, such as military doctrine, decision making, critical thinking, leadership, staff duties and peacekeeping operation among others.
“The JSC being a competitive course, I could well understand the strain both Graduates and Directing Staff have undergone. Training is a critical instrument that develops knowledge, skills and abilities aimed at improving the performances of commanders and staff officers. It creates synergy in ensuring that staff officers are carrying out their tasks competently to meet the challenges of the 21st century,” Kapofi shared.
This is the fifteenth Graduation Ceremony of JSC, which started on 17 May 2021. The course is designed to develop the analytical ability of the selected officers, to enhance their tactical knowledge and non-operational military issues. This includes contemporary global, regional security and geo-strategic among others.
