Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) has announced that since the commencement of the General Registration of Voters (GRV), a cumulative total of 1,315,124 eligible Namibians have registered as voters inside the country and at all Namibian Diplomatic Missions abroad, representing 81% of the eligible voters.

This announcement was made by Petrus Shaama, Chief Electoral and Referenda Officer of the ECN, who added that the General Registration of Voters (GRV) is coming to an end in the next four days.

“The Commission is pleased to inform stakeholders and members of the public that since the commencement of the GRV on 03 June – 27 July 2024, a cumulative total of 1,315,124 eligible Namibians have registered as voters inside the country and at all Namibian Diplomatic Missions abroad, representing 81% of the eligible voters. This figure represents an average of 26,869 registered voters per day during 22 – 27 July 2024,” Shaama said.

He added that Namibians are further reminded that there is no window of opportunity for extending the period of voter registration.

“The GRV continues across the country and at all Namibian Diplomatic Missions abroad until 01 August 2024, Monday to Thursday from 08:00 to 19:00,” Shaama said.
