The Namibian Agronomic Board (NAB) has received an unqualified audit report for the 2023–2024 financial year, which highlights the institution’s strong financial management, accountability and governance.
Signed off by Auditor General Junias Kandjeke, the report confirms that NAB’s financial statements accurately reflect its financial position, performance, and cash flows, in compliance with International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) and statutory obligations.
“I have audited the financial statements of the Namibian Agronomic Board for the year ended 31 March 2024. In my opinion, these statements fairly present, in all material respects, the board’s financial position, performance, and cash flows. The audit was conducted in accordance with International Standards for Supreme Audit Institutions, and all ethical requirements were fully observed,” Kandjeke said. The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform, Inge Zaamwani, said the Auditor General’s findings are a testament to transparency, integrity and prudent stewardship of public resources.
“In a time when accountability is paramount, NAB’s achievement proves that public enterprises can deliver both development and good governance. I commend the board, management, and staff for this exceptional result. Trust is the foundation of any successful transformation agenda,” Zaamwani said.
Zaamwani made the remarks at the launch of the institution’s Annual Report 2023/2024, the Integrated Strategic Business Plan (ISBP) 2025/26–2029/30, and the Potato Development Scheme last week.
According to NAB Chief Executive Officer Fidelis Mwazi, the clean audit confirms a strong financial performance, driven by effective resource management and strategic initiatives aligned with NAB’s mandate to support Namibia’s agronomic and horticultural sectors.
It also reflects robust governance, with no significant issues identified, underscoring the strength of the Board’s internal controls and compliance mechanisms.
“This unqualified opinion from the Office of the Auditor General demonstrates our continued commitment to transparency, accountability, and sound financial management. It reflects the dedication of our staff and the Board in upholding high standards of governance,” Mwazi said. He added that NAB’s clean audit positions the institution as a benchmark for effective public sector financial management, reinforcing confidence in its ability to support Namibia’s agricultural growth while maintaining exemplary governance standards.
Mwazi also revealed that the Board successfully implemented two of the three sampled KPIs and achieved 91% progress in executing its strategic plan, despite resource limitations, demonstrating strong operational efficiency and a commitment to its mandate.
