Africa-Press – Namibia. ENTREPRENEUR Tobias ‘Tona’ Amadhila was elected as the Swapo treasurer for Omusati region on Sunday.
Amadhila, who stood unopposed, is prime minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila’s husband.
He was elected at the regional conference held at Outapi.
Speculation is rife that Kuugongelwa-Amadhila will be among Swapo leaders vying for the party’s vice president position at the upcoming party elective congress slated for later this year.
Meanwhile, former Omusati governor Sacky Kayone was elected as the party’s regional coordinator.
Kayone garnered 52 votes while former Outapi constituency councillor Simon Shileka got 40 votes. Anamulenge constituency councillor Generosa Andowa scored one vote.
Senia Uushona is the party’s regional information and mobilisation secretary.
