Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Namibia Boxing Federation (NBF) says it will stage the National Women and Men’s Championship at the Multi-Purpose Centre in Mondesa, Swakopmund, in March.

“It is a pleasure to invite you all to the championship which will take place at Swakopmund from 22 to 26 March 2023. The aim of hosting this event is to select our elite national teams that will participate in the Zone 4 Games slated for Lusaka, Zambia, during March/April 2023 and other upcoming international events,” said NBF secretary general Petrus Kashango.

All 13 weight categories classified under the International Boxing Association’s technical and competition rules shall be contested for, he said.

However, only one fighter per weight classification per region will be allowed to participate at the competition.

Furthermore, only Namibian nationals may participate as fighters and must be accompanied by a team manager who is preferably the regional chairperson or secretary general, or member of the executive. Each team is permitted two coaches, with one having at least participated in the AIBA 1 Star coaches course.

“An official draw will be done before the second competition day and on each day of the competition,” said Kashango.
