Africa-Press – Namibia. NAMIBIAN archers won four medals at the South African National Archery Championships which took place in Johannesburg last weekend.

Lutz Wahlers of the Swakopmund Archery Club won the gold medal in the recurve barebow men’s division, competing against nine other archers.

Jannie Meeuwesen from Luderitz and Hofmeyer van Blerk competed against 14 other archers in the compound men’s division where Meeuwesen won the silver medal.

Meeuwesen teamed up with Jacqueline Coetzee to compete in the international mixed compound team event against South Africa and the United States, where they finished third to take the bronze medal.

Quinn Reddig from Swakopmund competed against five other archers in the recurve women’s division where she won a silver medal.

Reddig also improved her previous Namibian record for the 360 round from 296 to 300 and ranked first after the full 720 ranking round.

A total of 117 archers registered for the event on 10 March, followed by official practise rounds. On 11 March the archers shot 72 arrows in the ranking round, which was followed by eliminations to determine who would qualify for the medal matches on 12 March.
