Africa-Press – Namibia. SIX coastal soccer teams in the premier league, first and the second division will showcase their talent this Saturday at the Jan Wilkens stadium at Walvis Bay.

This is an effort to bring soccer back to the Erongo region.

According to the chairperson of the tournament’s organising committee, Robert Shimooshili the aim is to activate football in the country.

“This is simply because football has been inactive in the country for quite some time, we opted to use all the structure within the league set up in the country,” he said.

The games will kick off at 12h00 with the first match between BlueBirds and Young Eleven for a price of N$ 5 000 and a trophy.

This will be followed up by Western Spurs against Blue Boys for N$7 000 and a trophy at 14h00.

Premier League teams Eleven Arrows and Blue Waters will end the day at 16h00 they will battle for N$10 000 and a trophy.

Shimooshili explained that the money will go toward the welfare of the players.

“Gate takings will be shared equally by the clubs,” he said.

He added that this will be an ongoing activity, with the next edition of the tournament to be held in Swakopmund.
