Africa-Press – Namibia. The Bank of Namibia this week announced the promotion of various senior staff after the apex bank board approved changes to its structure. Emma Haiyambo was appointed director of research and financial sector development and chief economist.
Florette Nakusera becomes director of financial stability and macroprudential oversight and BoN spokesperson, and Kazembire Zemburuka was promoted to director of strategic communications. The appointments are effective 1 January 2022.
“These changes have been necessitated by the adoption of a new organisational structure by the bank to provide a solid platform for the effective delivery of the bank’s mandate, which has been expanded in scope through the promulgation
of the Bank of Namibia, Act 1 (2020) to comprehensively carry out this new mandate a new department of financial stability and macroprudential oversight has been created.
At the same time, the research department has been re-organised to cater for the inclusion objective of the bank,” BoN governor Johannes !Gawaxab said.
The promotions come after the renewal of !Gawaxab’s term, the appointment of Leonie Dunn as second deputy governor and the appointment of Gerrit Eiman as financial sector development.
Eiman served as deputy director in the FIC, responsible for financial investigations and analysis as well as law enforcement and prosecutorial support, and he has been at the FIC for over 13 years.
