Africa-Press – Namibia. Villagers of Bukalo in the Katima Rural constituency can now register their vehicles using their own approved vehicle licence mark, which is N-BK.

This comes after the Roads Authority opened a NaTIS registering authority office on Thursday in the village, which is about 40 kilometers from Katima Mulilo.

Minister of works and transport John Mutorwa who officially inaugurated the office, noted that the Roads Authority has made significant strides in bringing NaTIS services closer to the people.

“The opening of this office will have an enormous impact on the people in its area and will also contribute to the socio-economic development of Bukalo,” he said.

Mutorwa revealed that although the facility is not equipped to provide all examining functions for vehicles and drivers at this stage, it can cater for registration and licencing of vehicles,

as well as the annual renewal of vehicle licences, the renewal of driving licences, and the testing and issuing of learners’ licences.

“I wish to encourage all the people of Bukalo village who currently have vehicles registered at other registering authorities to move their vehicles to Bukalo.

“The youth are also encouraged to apply for their learners’ licences to become legal drivers on the road,” he added.

Mutorwa concluded by encouraging Namibians to refrain from obtaining their licences and learners’ permits illegally.

Zambezi regional governor Lawrence Sampofu, who was also speaking at the event, advised road users to adhere to the rules of the road at all times in order to arrive safely at their destination.
