Africa-Press – Namibia. GOOD rainfall continues in the northern regions, which also resulted in flash-flooding in some parts. This includes the Omusati Region where businesses came to a standstill on Saturday following heavy rainfall received at Outapi town the whole of Saturday.

Most parts of the town were underwater, making it difficult to access shopping malls by foot and vehicles had to pass through strong-flowing water to get from one point to another.

Omusati governor Erginus Endjala said they have received a lot of showers in the region, with Outapi being the most flooded town. Endjala stated that this resulted in a small traffic jam in the town.

While Omusati in the past weeks reported a number of tragic drowning incidents, Endjala said fortunately no drowning was so far reported at Outapi. “People should, however, avoid crossing at places if they are not sure if it is safe to do so. This will also save lives in the process,” he said. He then urged all local farmers in the region to continue cultivating their lands to address food security.
