Africa-Press – Namibia. CABINET has approved the extension of the temporary reduction of the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor), the Motor Vehicle Fund and the Road Fund Administration levies with the exception of the fuel tax.
According to the minister of information and communication technology Peya Mushelenga in a media statement, this will be done until such a time fuel prices start to fall significantly to affordable levels.
“Cabinet approved the continuation of the temporary reduction of the fuel levy by 45 cents on all products,” Mushelenga said.
He added that the government took note of the various long term fuel procurement strategies being explored to mitigate the situation and stabilize fuel prices in the country.
