Africa-Press – Namibia. Marthina Mutanga CHILDREN ages 12 and above in Namibia will soon be able to get vaccinated against Covid-19. This was revealed by the Executive Director in the Ministry of Health and Social Services, Ben Nangombe, who said vaccination of the young will most likely commence next week.

“Once the final regulatory is set, the young children will start receiving Pfizer’s vaccine by next week,” he said.

Regarding children between the ages of five and 11, Nangombe explained that they are studying the developments in the United States, as no policy position has yet been developed to allow children in that age group to get vaccinated.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the national public health agency of the United States, has recommended Covid-19 vaccine for children ages five to 11.

In a statement issued by CDC, Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky announced that the CDC Directorate has officially given the green light to commence vaccination for children from five years. Dr. Walensky added that the CDC recommended that about 28 million children in the United States receive a Covid-19 vaccine.
