Africa-Press – Namibia. Chile Futsal Club cruised to another victory to remain at the top of the NDTC Futsal Premier League, while EFG Patriots pulled off an upset win over Windhoek Futsal Club over the weekend.
Second-placed Quality, meanwhile, did not get to play their match against WIAS FC and have now dropped six points behind Chile.
Chile took on fifth-placed Ballers and soon opened their account from an own goal after barely a minute. Martin Humphries made it 2-0 when he finished off a Wesley Otto cross while Otto also hit the post, but Ballers managed to hold out till halftime.
They opened their account five minutes after the break when Stanley Paulse scored from a quick counter-attack, but Chile immediately replied when a snapshot from Immanuel Angula hit the back of the net.
With a 3-1 deficit, Ballers were still in contention, but Chile striker Celso Roberto took the game by the scruff of the neck, scoring a brilliant hat trick within two minutes to put Chile 6-1 ahead, while Jurgen van der Byl added a late goal to complete another resounding victory.
The win put Chile on 56 points at the top of the log, while Ballers remain sixth on 33 points. Chile have now moved six points clear of second-placed Quality whose match against WIAS did not take place due to a late start to proceedings which saw the final match being postponed.
Third-placed Windhoek Futsal Club, meanwhile, wasted an opportunity to close in on the leaders when they suffered a 3-1 defeat to fourth-placed Patriots. Goals by Terence Mukasa and a brace by Viyandamuye Havarua gave Patriots the win, while Mzwandile Mento scored a consolation goal for WFC, who remain third on 45 points, while Patriots move up to 37 points in fourth place.
The X-Men moved up to 35 points in fifth place after a comprehensive 9-0 victory against Flying V. Diego Samson led the way with a hat trick, while Kaylan Eksteen and Reginald Willems scored two goals each and Clayton Panizza and Marco Bock one goal each.
The Mavericks moved up to ninth position on 20 points after beating 7 Kings 5-0, with their goals coming via Godwin Gariseb (2), Aluvinu Mbandje, Andreas Kashonga, and Faustino Paulus.
