Africa-Press – Namibia. The City of Windhoek has announced an increase in bus fare prices from N$7,50 to N$8,50 for those with smart cards.
This will be effective from 1 August 2022.
City spokesperson Lydia Amutenya told The Namibian that cash paying passengers will be charged N$9,50.
“We do a budget review annually and looking at the market prices currently, all the prices are increasing. Our buses use fuel and the price is high, so we just added a bit to our bus fare,” Amutenya said.
The bus service is meant to accommodate those who cannot afford to take taxis daily, she said.
