Colourful street procession precedes constables’ graduation

Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Namibian police’s colourful street procession in Ondangwa on Thursday and Oshakati on Friday was just a foretaste of the bigger event to come when President Nangolo Mbumba officiates at the graduation ceremony of over one thousand police cadet constables on Monday, said Police Inspector-General Joseph Shikongo.

The procession caught the attention of residents in both Ondangwa and Oshakati, with many people lining the streets as the procession passed through. A joyful crowd followed the marching constables from the point of departure to the point of arrival. Youngsters were seen imitating the police drill, while women ululated as they followed the procession.

At the conclusion of the procession, General Shikongo addressed the crowds, introduced the senior police officers present, and invited the people to attend Monday’s graduation ceremony “to see more.”

Monday’s event will take place at Oshakati’s Independence Stadium.
