Africa-Press – Namibia. NAMIBIA has recorded 1 041 new Covid-19 infections. This is double the cases reported yesterday.

The positivity ratio currently stands at 27,2%. “Khomas region reported the highest number of new cases, totalling 608 and making up 58,4% of the total confirmed cases,” health and social services minister Kalumbi Shangula said on Saturday.

The 1 041 newly confirmed cases include 78 pupils from different schools, 41 health care workers, 15 students and eight teachers. “The number of the unvaccinated among the positive cases stands at 933, which translates to 89,6%,” the minister added.

Shangula also said 73 people are currently hospitalised with Covid-19, with four patients in the intensive care units. “During the second wave in 2020, the number peaked at 683 on 13 December 2021. It remains in our power to change the course of the trajectory by practising the basic public health measures,” Shangula stressed.
