Africa-Press – Namibia. FINANCIAL relief for Walvis Bay ratepayers is on the cards following a recommendation by the municipality’s management committee that all interest on municipal debt in arrears should be written off.
In addition, a new amnesty period is expected to be instituted until 31 December for the outstanding debt to be settled, without any interest being accumulated.
The coucil is scheduled to debate and make recommendations on the matter during its ordinary monthly meeting tonight. The debt relief is among the first items on the agenda.
