Africa-Press – Namibia. YOUTH in the Zambezi region will have access to valuable career guidance at the upcoming Zambezi Education and Career Expo.
The first of its kind, the expo will be staged from 1 to 6 August at the Katima Mulilo Sports Complex, under the theme: ‘Unleashing Educational Potential Through Maximum Exposure’.
It is spearheaded by Kangaroo Empire CC, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture.
During an interview with The Namibian yesterday, Kangaroo Empire spokesperson Pasval Elijah said youths in the region will have the chance to explore career opportunities, other than teaching and nursing.
She said the Zambezi region is strategically located and has high potential investment opportunities which could create jobs for over 40 000 pupils after school.
“These figures clearly indicate the need and potential of exposure and opportunities by bringing services to the needy. The expo will give learners and pupils an opportunity to meet with institutional and service providers to establish and discuss potential career paths and job opportunities within diverse market avenues,” she said.
Elijah said they hope to attract school-going pupils, students and those who’ve dropped out of school, as well as those interested in furthering their studies, learning, exploring and developing their skills.
She said it will also be a good opportunity for different institutional service providers to showcase their products and services, especially tertiary, vocational and nursing schools, as well as the Namibia Qualifications Authority and the Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund.
“There are also stalls available to rent for kapana sellers and SMEs to come sell their products.”
Elijah said they believe hosting this event will create a positive impact in the lives of the youth.
“To ensure growth and sustainability, we intend to have this as an annual event,” she said.
