Africa-Press – Namibia. The minister of education, arts and culture, Anna Hipondoka, on Friday submitted a report to president Hage Geingob on the 2022 Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary level and Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Advanced Subsidiary level examination results.
Education ministry spokesperson Sam Shino confirmed this to The Namibian, saying the minister met the president to brief him and submit a report on the root causes of pupils’ weak performance in the examinations.
Shino said the meeting between Geingob and Hipondoka was also aimed at seeking support and guidance on “proposed interventions to address the root causes of the weak academic performance of the learners in 2022.”
He did not explain the content of the report.
Geingob’s meeting with Hipondoka came days after the president expressed dissatisfaction with the results.
Geingob has requested a report detailing what had transpired and the reasons for the dismal results.
This year only 8 133 pupils (21,4%) out of 38 019 candidates who sat for the Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary level examination qualified for the advanced subsidiary level.
