Africa-Press – Namibia. PRESIDENT of the Republic of Namibia Nangolo Mbumba has delivered an emotional farewell message for his friend, the late president Hage Geingob, during his state funeral at the Heroes’ Acre in Windhoek on Sunday morning.

Mbumba said Geingob fought a good fight.

“Today he can return home, where eternal rest and peace awaits,” he said.

Mbumba described Heroes’ Acre as hallowed grounds and mentioned the fallen heroes and heroines of the Namibian liberation struggle.

“Today, they are joined by a national hero who excelled in his assigned tasks,” Mbumba said.

He added that Geingob remained fervent and fought consistently without wavering, both for his family and for Namibia.

“May you no longer be weary and may you no longer be burdened,” Mbumba said.

“We will take care of the Namibian house and the needs of the citizens,” Mbumba added.

He further thanked all the global leaders who attended president Geingob’s funeral proceedings.

“Take comfort in the wonderful legacy he has left us, I would like to thank you for the honour of your presence,” Mbumba said.

“I appreciate your solidarity,” he added.

He concluded by bidding farewell to his friend.
