Africa-Press – Namibia. //KHARAS region has recorded more than 6 000 cases of Covid-19 while the total number of deaths attributed to the pandemic are around 2,2% of the total cases reported.
This was said by //Kharas governor Aletta Fredericks when she received medical equipment donated by national fishing company Fishcor to Lüderitz State Hospital.
According to Fredericks, it is against this background that her office, in conjunction with the regional health directorate, decided to reach out to the private sector to acquire the most critical medical equipment and supplies needed to effectively respond to the challenges posed by Covid-19 on the region’s health system.
Fishcor acting chief executive Ruth Herunga said the company is committed to support the government in its Covid-19 prevention and response efforts both now and in the future.
The company donated equipment worth N$140 000, which included one 10-litre oxygen concentrator; one oxygen regulator; one infusion pump; one syringe pump and one patient monitor.
