Africa-Press – Namibia. FORMER Democratic Turnhulle Alliance (DTA) parliamentarian Dino Stuart has died. He was 77.
Stuart, who also served as DTA secretary general, died on Sunday at Walvis Bay.
His son, Nazeem confirmed his father’s death to The Namibian on Monday.
Nazeem said his father was a hard working and honest politician who fought for what was right.
He will be laid to rest on Saturday, 11 March, at Walvis Bay.
He is survived by his wife, children, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Stuart served in the National Assembly from 1990 until September 1999.
In October 1999, he resigned as the DTA’s secretary general citing a lack of democracy in the party.
Stuart was born in Stellenbosch and lived in Walvis Bay Africa and Lüderitz.
He was chairperson of Coloured Legislative Assembly between 1981 and 1985, and deputy speaker of the National Assembly of the South African-installed administration from 1985 to 1989.
