Africa-Press – Namibia. South Africa’s minister of sport, arts and culture, Gayton McKenzie, was welcomed in Windhoek on Monday by his Namibian counterpart, Sanet Steenkamp, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture.

McKenzie is on a two-day bilateral visit focused on enhancing cultural, artistic and heritage cooperation between the two countries.

The visit also includes discussions on Namibia’s participation in the upcoming Robben Island Ex-Political Prisoners’ Reunion.

In a statement, the education ministry says: “This visit marks a significant step towards deepening historical, cultural and heritage ties between Namibia and South Africa. It reinforces our commitment to shared memory, youth empowerment and continental solidarity.”

The two ministers will hold high-level engagements with their respective teams and heritage institutions, paving the way for future joint initiatives and the formalisation of cultural exchange programmes.
