Give us a chance, PDM chairman asks Oshana voters

Africa-Press – Namibia. The national chairperson of the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), Ricky Vries, has asked residents of the Okaku constituency in the Oshana region to vote for his party’s candidate in the by-election to elect a new regional councillor for the constituency on Friday next week.

Vries said this at a PDM election meeting at Okaku on Saturday.

“Come in big numbers and vote for change,” he said. “We say give us a chance. Work with us.”

He said it is the responsibly of every Namibian to stand for the future.

Vries added that in the past Namibians have been voting for other parties.

“We say in this by-election, the national election next year and regional and local authority elections in 2025, vote for change. Give us a chance,” he said.

The PDM, Swapo, the Independent Patriots for Change and the Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters have nominated candidates to take part in the by-election on 17 March.

The by-election is being held after the constituency’s previous representative in the Oshana Regional Council, Swapo member Gerson Kapenda, died in December last year.

Kapenda scored a runaway victory in the last election in the constituency in 2020, when he received 3 261 out of 4 639 votes cast.
