Africa-Press – Namibia. Swapo secretary general Sophia Shaningwa says the late dean emeritus Stefanus Tiboth was a beacon of dedication, commitment and unwavering loyalty to the party and the noble cause of Namibian liberation.
Shaningwa made this remarks in a speech read on her behalf ahead of the burial of Tiboth at Berseba on Saturday.
Tiboth, who died on 26 May at the age of 80, was a member and pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Republic of Namibia (ELCRN) and previously also served as Swapo’s regional coordinator for Hardap.
Shaningwa said Tiboth’s resolute spirit and unrelenting passion for justice were instrumental in advancing the struggle for the country’s independence, adding that through his selfless service, he embodied the essence of the party’s revolutionary ideals, inspiring countless comrades and citizens to stand firm in the face of adversity.
“We express our deepest gratitude for comrade Tiboth’s lifelong devotion to the people of Namibia. As regional coordinator in Hardap, he worked tirelessly to uplift communities, foster unity and champion the aspirations of our people. His leadership was a testament to the power of collective resolve, and his legacy will forever be etched in the annals of our nation’s history,” said Shaningwa.
She went on to say that Tiboth’s sacrifices have left an indelible mark on the nation, urging for unity in celebrating his life and recommitment to the revolutionary ideals he upheld.
“His life was a clarion call for freedom, equality and justice, a call we vow to honour as we carry forward his vision for a united and prosperous Namibia,” Shaningwa stated.
Tiboth is survived by his wife, seven children, 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
