Africa-Press – Namibia. Several roads in the //Kharas region have been severely affected by recent heavy rains and flooding, resulting in temporary closures to ensure the safety of all road users.
The Roads Authority (RA) yesterday stated that it is actively monitoring affected areas and will undertake necessary assessments and repairs as conditions permit.
Meanwhile, the public is advised to avoid flooded roads, adhere to road closure signage, and stay informed through official RA communication channels.
The RA has also called on the public to report road damage on national roads, either via telephone, via email, direct message (DM) on the RA Facebook page (Roads Authority-RA Namibia) or the nearest RA Maintenance Office. Roads Authority is monitoring affected areas to commence with repairs as conditions permit.
Motorists are further urged to exercise caution and make use of the indicated alternative routes when travelling. The roads that have been most severely affected are: District Road 1077 (DR1077)-DR1089 Keinachas to DR1075 Asab
Alternative Route(s): Use Main Road 32 (MR32) from Gibeon and District Road 1089 (DR1089) towards the Ketenhause/Helmeringhausen area; or use Main Road 98 (MR98) from Tses to Berseba and District Road 0554 (DR0554) towards the Kutenhoas/Helmeringhausen area.
District Road 1088 (DR1088)-North of Gibeon town
Alternative Route(s): Use Main Road 32 (MR32) from Gibeon and District Road 1089 (DR1089) towards the Ketenhause/Helmeringhausen area.
Main Road 25 (MR25)-Karasburg towards Aroab, from 50 to 70 kilometres
Alternative Route(s): Use Trunk Road T0301 from Karasburg to Grünau, and proceed via Main Road 26 (MR26) towards the Aroab area.
District Road 1075 (DR1075)-From DR1089 to Asab
Alternative Route(s): Use Main Road 32 (MR32) from Gibeon and District Road 1089 (DR1089) towards the Ketenhause/Helmeringhausen area; or
Use Main Road 98 (MR98) from Tses to Berseba and District Road 0554 (DR0554) towards the Kutenhoas/Helmeringhausen area.
