Africa-Press – Namibia. President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Saturday said she would fire those not doing their job.
She was speaking during her visit to northern regions affected by floods to assess the relocated flood victim centres.
“Before I lose my job as president, because Namibians voted for me and have the power to fire me, I will fire you first for not doing what needs to be done,” she said.
Nandi-Ndaitwah said Namibians entrusted her with powers to bring change and uplift livelihoods, and she will not hesitate to use it to fire those not doing their jobs.
She directed deputy prime minister Natangwe Ithete to make sure public office bearers do their jobs.
Nandi-Ndaitwah called for collective efforts and working together to address any issue, not only floods.
She further commended governors, stakeholders and flood victims for cooperating with one another to address the flood situation.
She said as per culture, when visiting people, one does not come with empty hands. She gifted various items to the flood victims, including clothes and food.
