Africa-Press – Namibia. Indian High Commissioner to Namibia Rahul Shrivastava visited the Suiderlig Secondary School in Keetmanshoop last week, donating 200 educational books to the school in the process.

Reflecting on his academic journey to the learners, he advised them to make the most with their time. It does not matter if it is invested in family, friends, themselves or the business world.

“You should always do proper planning, spending time wisely towards your studies, for if not, it will be gone and you will never recover it,” the diplomat said.He then underscored the importance of family and friends.

“These are your main support base when things go wrong in life; hence, you should form and cherish strong bonds with them,” he added. Shrivastava continued: “Always look at tomorrow, asking yourself, ‘Am I doing better than yesterday?’ and think about your future.’’ He also urged them to look ahead and strive to become what they want to be in life. “Do not forget in the process to take good care of your physical and mental health, for what you are when growing up will have an effect on the rest of your life,” he said.

Turning the attention to finances, he advised the learners to start saving and investing part of the little money at their disposal at a very early stage.

“In doing so, you will find one day that the power of compound interest (returns) will secure you a better, established life at your old age,” he advised.

Taking to the podium on the day, Robert Andreas, a teacher at the school, described Shrivastava’s visit to the school as “deeply meaningful”.

“It symbolises the value placed on education, empowerment of young people and belief that diplomacy begins with knowledge, curiosity and dialogue,’’ he said.On the donation, he said the books would inspire learners to pursue knowledge, curiosity and global citizenship, empowering their young minds as future leaders.

Delivering the welcoming remarks, Dezy Conradie, a member of the junior Parliament, said the visit reflects the importance of education, cooperation and global understanding.
