Africa-Press – Namibia. THE indoor fistball tournament will take place at Swakopmund on Saturday.
Cohen FC 1 is considered the favourite, as they have held the indoor cup in their showcase since 2017.
Their reign is likely to be challenged by Sport Klub Windhoek’s first team.
Host Swakopmund FC have the advantage of being the only club that trains indoors, but could struggle to be competitive with their first team, which is somewhat depleted after the coastal team suffered a host of departures since the beginning of the year.
However, the team has never been short on spirit and with the home fans on their side, anything could happen.
“Since this tournament falls outside the scope of the national league, non-registered players and teams are also allowed to participate,” the competition organisers said.
“The teams are divided into two groups with the two best teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals.
“Unlike in the league where sets are played, the tournament is contended according to time, with two halves. The field length per half is also only 20 metres instead of the usual 25 metres in field fistball.”
The action gets underway at 10h00.
