Africa-Press – Namibia. David Akuunda of the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) was on Monday sworn in as councillor of the Ongwediva Town Council.

He stepped into the position that was previously held by fellow IPC councillor Ottilie Haitota.

This was done in accordance with Section 10 (1) of the Local Authorities Act.

Haitota departed from the Ongwediva Town Council earlier this year to assume a seat in the National Assembly, leading to the subsequent swearing-in of Akuunda.

The occasion was presided over by the chairperson of the council, Taarah Shalyefu, who also serves as the mayor.
