Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Rössing Foundation continues to transform lives through community empowerment and innovation.
Hence, the Foundation donated 150 books to Isak Katali Combined School in the Omusati Region on Friday.
The books form part of 5,328 books earmarked for donations to various schools across the country by the Foundation.
Helena Shikongo, a grade 7 learner, said they are faced with a huge challenge of communicating in their second language, which is English, and this challenge has a very big negative effect on their academic performance as learners.
Hence, Shikongo indicated that the donation towards their school library will really bring them so much goodness in improving their English language skills.
Another, Diana Lucas, a grade 8 student, thanked the Rössing Foundation for their donation.
“We promise to make use of every material donated to our own benefit and that of the school at large,” she said.
Shikongo noted that the donation from the Rössing Foundation will go a long way in improving their education.
Manager Academia Lysias Uusiku handed over a total of 150 library books and reading materials to the school library.
Uusiku indicated that they want to create a reading culture in schools across the country.
“A reading nation is an empowered nation,” he said.
He added that through stimulation leading to new learning discoveries.
Hence, the Rössing Foundation, being a key stakeholder in education, prides itself on transforming lives through innovation in learning and the value chain.
