Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Angolan President João Lourenço has sent a congratulatory message to Namibia’s president-elect, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, wishing her well and affirming his government’s readiness to continue working closely with Namibia.
Lourenço highlighted the special significance of Nandi-Ndaitwah’s victory, as it marks the first time a woman has been elected to the highest office in the country. According to Lourenço, her election reflects the confidence the Namibian people have in her leadership and policies aimed at reinforcing her predecessors’ initiatives to promote economic development and establish a solid foundation for a prosperous Namibia.
He also emphasized the historical, cultural, and economic ties between the two neighbouring countries, which necessitate the continued enhancement of their strategic partnership.
Nandi-Ndaitwah was declared the winner after securing 638,560 votes (58.07%). She was the only woman among fifteen contestants.
