Africa-Press – Namibia. KUNENE regional governor Marius Sheya says his region is blessed with 23 doctors in the district hospitals.

In his state-of-the-region address at Opuwo on Friday, Sheya said there is a medical doctor based at the Kamanjab health facility.

“The Ministry of Health and Social Services has also added more medical doctors to our three health facilities in the region. Opuwo hospital now has 11 doctors, including two specialists,” Sheya said.

The governor added that Outjo has four doctors, with another one expected to start soon.

“Khorixas district hospital has five doctors, with one expected to start soon. This shows government’s commitment to improving health services for the people of Kunene. I implore all inhabitants to work together with these doctors for better service delivery,” he said.

Sheya added that to ensure access to health services, the region will intensify outreach services to rural communities.

“It gives me immense pleasure to report that the Otjinungua community received a containerised clinic, which was recently inaugurated by president Hage Geingob,” the governor said.
