Africa-Press – Namibia. A 59-YEAR-OLD father succumbed to injuries which was a result of a hippo in the Ikaba area on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Moses Musialela and his next of kin was informed of his death.
Zambezi regional police spokesperson inspector Kisco Sitali confirmed the incident to The Namibian saying that Musialela was on crossing back in a canoe after dropping his children at school at the time he was attacked.
“The family members came to his rescue and rushed him to the clinic. Unfortunately, he did not survive,” he said.
Sitali added that this is the second hippo attack in the region this year as a security guard also lost his life on the 28 January in Mafuta compound, while on duty at a bar.
The incident happened around 02h00.
He was identified as Mubita Mubita.
