Africa-Press – Namibia. A 41-YEAR-OLD man, Simson Ashikoto, died instantly when the sedan he was driving collided head-on with a VW Amarok on Sunday afternoon.

The driver of the Amarok, Sakaria Moongo (49), sustained broken legs.

There were no passengers in either car.

According to the Nampol Commander in the Oshikoto Region, Commissioner Armas Shivute, the incident occurred around 14:20 near Okambonde village.

“It is alleged that the driver of a silver Amarok was travelling from Oshigambo to Oniipa and collided head-on with a silver Toyota Corolla travelling from the opposite direction,” he said.

Shivute said Ashikoto died instantly.

The deceased’s body was taken to the Onandjokwe mortuary.

Moongo was admitted to the Onandjokwe hospital and is in stable condition.

Shivute said the cause of the accident is not yet known but a case of culpable homicide has been opened.

Police investigation into the matter continues.
