Africa-Press – Namibia. National Planning Commision (NPC) director general, Kaire Mbuende has urged leaders in the public service to continuously learn, adapt and make evidence-based decisions that improve service delivery.
Calling leaders to action, he said achieving government development targets such as Vision 2030 requires collective effort.
Mbuende was speaking during the Namibia Institute of Corporate Governance conference.
He noted that, while government must ensure policy coherence and accountability, the public service must deliver results efficiently.
The director calls on every Namibian to act and contribute to the country’s progress.
He reminded leaders to view Vision 2030 and NDP6 not as documents gathering dust, but as living guides that shape how they lead, work and serve.
“Let our efforts be rooted in service, our policies in justice and our progress in inclusion. Through stewardship in governance and the continued guidance of the NICG, we can move Namibia closer to the horizon of Vision 2030, a prosperous, industrialised and harmonious nation built by her people and for her people,” he said.
The conversation was held under the theme ‘Stewardship in Governance: Aligning Leadership with Namibia’s National Vision 2030 and the National Development Plan’.
Mbuende said the country faces complex social, economic and environmental opportunities that call for leadership grounded in stewardship, and a leadership that determines whether Vision 2030 becomes a lived reality or remains a noble aspiration.
Adopted in 2004, Vision 2030 outlines Namibia’s ambition to become an industrialised, developed, stable and peaceful nation, with its people driven by skills and potential.
The Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6), which runs from 2025 to 2031, is the final step toward reaching Namibia’s Vision 2030 goals.
“A central pillar of NDP6 is a competent, ethical and transparent public service. Institutions must be well-resourced, professional and anchored in integrity. Ethical conduct and accountability are non-negotiable for public trust and national progress,” he said.
