Africa-Press – Namibia. The Ministry of Information, Communication, and Technology (MICT) continues to extend its national symbol campaign to the rest of the regions with hope for people to learn and understand the importance of the national symbol.

Minister Peya Mushelenga once again launched the campaign in the Otjozondjupa Region on Monday.

Speaking during the launch, Mushelenga said national symbols hold a significant place in any nation’s identity.

He indicated that it is a powerful symbol that serves to unite nationals.

“We aim to deepen the understanding and appreciation of our national symbols among the people of this region,” he said.

He added that they believe that by promoting awareness and understanding of these symbols, they can foster a stronger sense of national pride and unity.

According to Mushelenga, national anthems signify the sovereignty of countries and bind together nationals in a spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood.

He noted that a tenet of nationalism, a national anthem fosters among nationals the consciousness of nationhood which they will safeguard and uphold.

Moreover, he said the national flag, coat of arms, national anthem, and other symbols, therefore, represent the cohesion and distinction that define their great nation.
