Africa-Press – Namibia. The chairperson of Swapo’s national leadership assigned to the Kavango West region, Sisa Namandje, has emphasised themes of unity, commitment and continued mobilisation of efforts to ensure his party’s victory during the 2025 local and regional authority elections, due to take place in November.
Namandje made these remarks at a Swapo mobilisation rally at Nkurenkuru on Saturday.
“Today is a day of unity, a day of action and a day of commitment to ensure Swapo remains the people’s choice,” he said.
The rally was attended by Swapo central committee and politburo members in an area where the party controls all eight districts without opposition.
Namandje expressed confidence in maintaining the party’s stronghold.
“Swapo is the one and only party that matters in this region,” he declared, emphasising that there is no opposition attempting to challenge the party’s position.
Namandje praised Kavango West’s continued loyalty, describing residents as “the loyal people behind our glorious movement” who have supported the party through difficult times, including during the liberation struggle.
He continued to emphasise support for president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Namibia’s first woman president, outlining commitments for the upcoming term, including improvements to healthcare, education, agriculture, infrastructure development and sports facilities.
Namandje pledged to combat corruption and violent crimes, particularly those against women and children.
He further called for intensive campaigning across all constituencies, town councils and village councils to ensure his party’s continued electoral success.
The rally featured a special veterans recognition ceremony honouring liberation struggle heroes who contributed to Namibia’s independence.
Speaking at the rally, retired general Martin Shalli highlighted the region’s historic significance as a former liberated area during the war for independence, crediting local resilience and commitment for the area’s unique status.
The rally concluded with Swapo regional coordinator Elina Magano Diparo calling for unity and action, encouraging attendees to maintain their commitment to the party’s vision.
