Namibia Launches 10-Year Financial Sector Strategy

Africa-Press – Namibia. The Bank of Namibia has launched a 10-year financial sector strategy focused on digital transformation, inclusion, localisation and sustainable economic growth.

The report was launched in collaboration with the Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (Namfisa) and the Ministry of Finance on Monday.

Central bank governor Johannes !Gawaxab said the strategy comes at a time when the financial sector is facing a technological, regulatory and historical pivot.

“The Namibian financial system is confronting the 2035-pivot, balancing development and stability on the one hand, and preparing for the new world on the other,” he said.

The new strategy has five pillars, namely, digital transformation and innovation, financial access, literacy and protection, skills and capacity development, financial sector development for growth and sustainability, and financial sector localisation.
