Africa-Press – Namibia. NAMIBIAN delegates attending the E-Governance conference in Tallinn, Estonia, have expressed their enthusiasm for the exchange of knowledge on e-governance at the conference.

The ninth E-Governance Conference, themed “Digital Innovation as a Catalyst for Social Change,” commenced today in Tallinn, Estonia. Namibia is represented by a delegation led by Emma Theofelus, the Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology.

According to Theofelus, Namibia finds itself at a pivotal moment where it aspires to become a leading advocate for e-governance, digital transformation, digital skills, and digital talents. The conference offers an opportunity for Namibia to learn from Estonia’s experiences.

“We eagerly look forward to learning from their experiences and want to identify challenges to avoid and opportunities to embrace. We are constantly networking and learning from other countries in Europe and beyond, and we see this conference as both an opportunity and a necessity for Namibia’s development process,” she added.

Later in the afternoon, the Deputy Minister is expected to deliver a speech on the potential and challenges of collaborative efforts in designing and implementing new e-governance policies for long-term and inclusive change.

Namibia is actively positioning itself as a significant participant in the digital realm, recognizing the importance of implementing bold initiatives to achieve its digital transformation goals.

The conference, which commenced on Tuesday, May 30, is scheduled to conclude on Wednesday.
