Africa-Press – Namibia. NAMIBIAN and South African senior officials will be gathering in Windhoek this week for the Senior Officials Meeting of the Third Session of the Namibia–South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC).
This was revealed by the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation’s Deputy Director of Information and Research, Marbeline Goagoses, who said that the meeting will start on Tuesday and end on Thursday. She explained that the objective of the meeting is to review cooperation in a wide range of areas and to prepare for the upcoming ministerial and presidential BNC meetings.
Goagoses said that the meeting will be co-chaired by the Executive Director (ED) of the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation, Penda Naanda, and the Director General of South Africa’s Department of International Relations and Cooperation, Zane Dangor.
Goagoses emphasised that Namibia and South Africa enjoy mutually supportive bi-lateral relations as reflected by the frequency and reciprocity of high-level visits and the intensity of the cooperation.
“The bilateral agreements and MoUs that Namibia has signed with South Africa are the highest with any bilateral partner. Since the transformation of the Heads of State Economic Forum into the BNC in November 2012, the BNC, has provided an impetus to further enhance Bilateral Cooperation, as well as a platform to exchange views on issues of mutual interest and concern at the regional and multilateral fora,” Goagoses said.
