Africa-Press – Namibia. TOP-CLASS squash returns to Namibia next month when the BDO Namibian Open Squash Championships will be held for the first time in five years.

The Namibia Squash Association yesterday announced the news, saying that the championships will be held over the weekend of 15 September at the Wanderers Squash Club in Windhoek.

“This will be the first Namibian Open since 2017 when Kelvin Ndlovu from Zambia, and Milnay Louw from South Africa, won the respective men and women’s titles,” the NSA said in a press release.

“This much-awaited tournament promises to deliver champagne match-ups with a strong contingent of South African players that has again indicated that they will travel to Namibia to challenge our best players for the coveted titles,” it added.

The African Squash Federation is also promoting the tournament on its social media platforms and hence entries are also anticipated from other African countries, including Zimbabwe and Zambia.

It is envisaged that there will be a 32-men’s A division, a 32-men’s division, a 16-women A division and a 16-women B division draw.

“The Wanderers Squash Club is gearing up to welcome over 100 passionate squash players and their supporters, however, the final draws will depend on the amount of entries and strength of players,” the press release stated.

Interested players can enter on the Namibian Squash Association’s website by following this link http://namsquash.org/bdo-namibian-open-2022-entry-form/.

The entry fee is N$500 per player and includes a ‘Goody Bag,’ T-shirt and a prize-giving meal.
