Africa-Press – Namibia. THE MS Europa 2 passenger vessel docked at the Port of Walvis Bay on Thursday morning with 498 visitors on board, including crew members from across the world.

The vessel, which arrived from Lüderitz around 07h00, overnighted at the coastal town before leaving for Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on Friday morning.

In a statement issued by the company on Thursday, executive of commercial services Elias Mwenyo said the Namibian Ports Authority (Namport) expects to roll out its red carpet to more passenger vessels at both its ports over the coming months.

“Namport remains appreciative that the tourism industry is a key player in Namibia’s economy and continues to be committed to advancing the country’s economic recovery drive. The presence of tourists from passenger vessels, such as the MS Europa 2 and others, is a direct positive injection into the tourism industry, which will aid our journey of economic recovery as a country,” he said.

Other vessels that are expected to dock at the port between March and May this year include the Crystal Endeavour, Queen Victoria, Astor and MS Isignia.
